Business Studies

Why did you choose to come to Blue Coat school to study your A Levels.

My older brother came to Blue Coat and really enjoyed it. Family and friends all recommended Blue Coat Sixth Form to me so I decided to apply. I knew the support my brother received was fantastic at Blue Coat and he got great A Level grades, and it has been the same experience for me. In the Sixth Form I have made lots of friends easily and there are lots of students in Sixth Form who are new to Blue Coat. We all look after each other and I have a great group of friends.

What are you hoping to do in the future?

I want to study Dentistry at university and my aim is to own my own dental practice one day. I went to a dental practice for work shadowing in Year 12 and I spoke at length to the practice manager who gave me an insight into both the profession and managing a practice. This was a highly beneficial experience for me, and it confirmed my desire to study dentistry and one day be my own boss.

Why did you choose A Level Business Studies?

My brother took Business Studies A Level and enjoyed it and I did GCSE Business Studies and I wanted to take it further. I am studying A Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Business because I want to work in dentistry which means understanding the business of running a dental practice as well understanding the science of dental practice.  I think all my A Levels are relevant to my future career. I’ve had a very good relationship with the Business teachers, who have encouraged me to do past papers which they mark and then provide personalised feedback to help me. I have enjoyed all the content of the A Level course, but you do need to work hard to keep up. A Level Business has taught me about inflation, pricing structures, how to be a good leader, marketing, income and expenditure and budgeting. This understanding will be very useful for my future.
