Law Pathway

Why choose the Law Pathway?

I was drawn to Blue Coat because of the excellent teaching and super curricular opportunities it offers.  I chose to study Sociology, Politics, and English Literature. These subjects kept my options open, allowing me to explore different career paths while still developing the skills needed for law. I was successful in my studies, which enabled me to access a degree in Law, and I’m glad I chose subjects that provided both flexibility and a strong foundation for my future.

What advice would you give to a student considering taking the Law Pathway?

I’d recommend reading extensively, as law involves a lot of detailed texts, cases, and legislation. It’s crucial to develop strong analytical and comprehension skills early on. Additionally, consider gaining experience in both the barrister and solicitor pathways to see which suits you best. Internships, mini-pupillages and shadowing opportunities are great ways to get a real sense of the different roles, allowing you to explore where your interests and strengths lie. It’s all about understanding what aspect of law excites you the most
