German

Why did you choose to study A Level German?

I’ve always been interested in languages. I really enjoyed GCSE German and the opportunities learning a language gives you to travel and work and study in other countries is a real incentive. Studying a language at A Level and then continuing at degree level involves much more depth. You study all aspects of German history, culture, politics, literature, as well as the language and the grammar.

What is your German degree course like at university?

It’s a four-year degree course but I get to study for a year in Germany. You get to choose what type of work and study you do when you’re abroad and I think I will choose to work in industry in Germany. I’m hoping to work as a translator in the future. Translators can work in all kinds of different fields such as business, publishing, journalism, and academia.
