Chemistry

Why did you choose to study Chemistry A Level?

I enjoyed studying Chemistry A Level especially the laboratory work and organic chemistry.  When I came to the UK, I had to learn English. I’ve had lots of support from the school throughout my time here and it has helped me to improve my English, increase my confidence and get through my A Levels. Studying Chemistry has meant I’ve been able to get a place at university to study Pharmacology which I am really happy about.

Why did you choose to study Pharmacology at degree level?

I wanted a more vocational course. My English is still not as good as it could be, so I looked for a course and future career which was more scientific, and laboratory based with less emphasis on communication skills. It’s a practical subject which can lead to careers in the medical industry, pharmaceuticals or even research.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying A Level Chemistry?

The subject is interesting and the Chemistry teachers are really good and helpful. If you liked GCSE Chemistry, A Level Chemistry is a great choice. You can go on to do lots of different degree courses and careers with Chemistry A Level.
