The MDV Programme supports our students to apply to competitive courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. It is run by our Director of Learning who has over 20 years of experience in guiding students to success.
You will consider the importance of super-curricular activities and work experience. You will learn about the different types of courses and routes to qualification. You will learn about the different admissions tests and how to prepare for them. You will study medical scenarios and consider medical ethics. You will prepare for interviews, practice MMIs and have one on one mock interviews.
Ex-Blue Coat students are on hand to give advice and guidance.
Some students complete a medical focused EPQ as part of their Futures option (please click here for more information).
We are delighted that every year our MDV students receive offers to study medicine, veterinary or dentistry courses at leading universities across the UK.
At Blue Coat, the MDV programme supports students aiming to pursue careers in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine; equally I think it could benefit any allied health care application. Miss Elliott is at the forefront, helping you to craft a competitive application through things like work experience, entrance exams and personal statements. The parts I found most useful were my mock interviews with other students, where I had to think fast to answer complex questions critically. I can’t thank Miss Elliott enough for staging my one- to-one practice interview, which made me feel more at ease in both of my medical school interviews. Another huge thanks for the late-night practice BMAT essay marking! Miss Elliott gave some helpful pointers on some very abstract questions. I am now studying medicine at the University of Leeds, so I encourage anyone who is interested to engage with the programme and definitely persevere – your hard work will pay off eventually!
