Originally, I wanted to study Chemistry and Biology A Levels, but I did not meet the entry requirements so I picked Applied Science as an alternative. Applied Science is a great subject to study and I have learned so much. Science is evolving every day and constantly pushing boundaries which I find inspirational. The Applied Science course has allowed me to explore real-world scientific principles and understand how they shape the world around us.
There are exams throughout the 2 years, not just at the end of Year 13. You have to submit coursework and do a lot of practical work throughout the course. I especially enjoyed the topics on microbiology. I learned practical techniques that will help with my future studies and career. Teachers are very supportive and give great advice and guidance. I have a great relationship with the teachers, and I can always ask for help. The support and encouragement from my teachers have been invaluable, helping me build the confidence and knowledge I need to succeed in my chosen field in the future.
Through practical experiments and in-depth learning, I’ve developed a strong passion for biomedical science. I hope to go to university to study Biomedical Science. I like hands on work, I like practical lab work, so I was drawn to this career. I would love to specialise in haematology. I want to make my parents proud and be successful in my career.
